Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada: Temples & Tombs

Duration: Approximately 14-17 hours (including travel time)

Step 1: Early Morning Departure (3:00 AM - 4:00 AM)

Wake up: Set an alarm for a very early start.
Pickup: Pre-arranged transportation (private car or tour bus) will pick you up from your Hurghada hotel. Confirm the pickup time the day before.
Breakfast Box: Grab the breakfast box provided by your hotel or tour operator, or pack your own snacks and drinks for the journey. The drive is long.

Step 2: Road Trip to Luxor (5:00 AM - 9:00 AM)

Scenic Drive: Enjoy the approximately 3-4 hour drive to Luxor. This is primarily through the desert. Maybe catch some sleep.
Rest Stop (Optional): The driver may stop at a rest area for a quick break.

Step 3: Karnak Temple (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM)

Arrival: Arrive at Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious complexes in the world.
Guided Tour: Join a guided tour to learn about the temple's history, pharaohs, and architectural marvels. Explore the Hypostyle Hall, the Avenue of Sphinxes, and the sacred lake.
Photography: Take pictures of the impressive columns, obelisks, and hieroglyphics.

Step 4: Lunch (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Restaurant: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor. The tour usually includes a pre-selected restaurant, or you can discuss options with your guide. Expect Egyptian cuisine.
Refreshments: Hydrate and relax before heading to the West Bank.

Step 5: West Bank Exploration (01:00 PM - 15:00 PM)

Cross the Nile: Transfer to the West Bank by boat or bridge.(Optional) Nile Trip by boat.
Valley of the Kings: Explore the Valley of the Kings, the burial site of many pharaohs, including Tutankhamun. Visit 2-3 tombs (entrance tickets typically included for a set number; additional tombs may require extra tickets).
Temple of Hatshepsut: Visit the magnificent mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri. Admire the unique architecture and learn about the female pharaoh.
Colossi of Memnon: Stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.

Step 6: Optional Activities (15:00 PM - 16:00 PM)

Alabaster Factory: Visit an alabaster factory to see demonstrations of how alabaster products are made and purchase souvenirs. (This is often a tourist trap, so be prepared to haggle).
Papyrus Institute: Visit a papyrus institute to learn about the ancient art of papyrus making and purchase authentic papyrus art. (Also often a tourist trap)

Step 7: Return to Hurghada (16:00 PM - 18:00 PM)

Departure: Begin the drive back to Hurghada.
Relax and Reflect: Enjoy the drive back, reflecting on the incredible sights you've seen.

Step 8: Hotel Drop-off (20:00 PM - 21:00 PM)

Arrival: Arrive back at your hotel in Hurghada.
Rest: Relax and unwind after a long day of exploring.
Dinner: Have dinner at your hotel or a local restaurant.
